UCN Plus® cheque fraud prevention tool
Developed specifically for corporate or ‘special’ computer cheques, UCN Plus® is an Image Survivable Feature (ISF) consisting of an encrypted QR (Quick Response) code printed on the face of the cheque. UCN Plus® provides the bank and its cheque-issuing corporate customers with an extremely robust and comprehensive cheque fraud prevention platform offering greater protection that a standard UCN which fully survives the imaging process of the Image Clearing System (ICS).
The UCN Plus® (patented GB2569173) ISF, developed by Parseq in partnership with DIA Europe, providers of the Kappa cheque fraud prevention platform used by many of the leading cheque clearing service providers.
We are delighted that several major high street banks are participating in the UCN Plus® initiative and helping to ensure that counterfeit, forged and fraudulently altered cheques are robustly and automatically trapped and rejected wherever possible within clearing.
UCN Plus® replicates the benefits of paper-based ‘Positive Pay’, by providing an automated, fully ‘hands-off’ version for the ICS, whilst removing the costs of data file preparation, transfer and any associated manual administration.
The UCN Plus® QR code encrypts and covers all codeline and variable data, including the payee name, amount and date from the printed cheque.
Creating your cheques with the secure UCN Plus®
We offer three methods of ‘special’ cheque production with the UCN Plus® applied: –
- Customers can use our CheckPrint Solution™, a software-based solution that enables customers’ own in-house infilling of computer cheques including the addition of the UCN Plus® at the time of print using their own accounting systems
- Our UCN Plus® Solution is a simple and comprehensive package, comprising software, hardware, installation services and a supply of cheque stock, complete with standard UCN to assist customers of ‘participating banks’* who want to infill their own ‘special’ cheques in-house and add the encrypted UCN Plus® QR code at the point of infilling
- We also offer customers a Send-A-Cheque™ or Cheque Bureau Service where cheque data is supplied to Parseq who securely manage the data to print, including the addition of the UCN Plus®, and then mail the cheques (where required) on the customer’s behalf. This option is particularly suitable where the bank details of the recipient are not known and a contact address are available.
