Shortlisted for apprentice of the year

Parseq’s Finance Apprentice, Zeynah Khalil, has been shortlisted for Rotherham’s Apprentice of the Year Award.

Zeynah joined Parseq in February 2018 and was completely new into a working and business environment. Over the past 15 months she’s been highly committed to her role and studies a like.

Being part of a six-strong finance team and working closely with the Head of Finance, Zeynah independently manages multiple finance processes including purchase ledger, petty cash and bank reconciliations.

At only 18, she has her career path mapped out and aims to be a qualified management accountant by 2021. Zeynah’s currently studying Level 2 Association of Accounting Technician at Doncaster College.  Her results so far have been exceptional achieving over 90% in three exams.

On her apprenticeship and award shortlisting, Zeynah commented: “Going down an apprenticeship route is the best decision I’ve made. The combination of learning whilst working is hugely beneficial. The knowledge and confidence I’ve gained has been more than I could ever have imagined.

“I’m looking forward to what the future holds and I’m now just starting Level 3 of my apprenticeship – Foundation Accountancy Diploma. I’m honoured to have been shortlisted for this award and for the opportunity that Parseq’s made a reality.”

The Awards are now in their fourth year. They’re a joint project between Rotherham Investment and Development Office (RIDO), the Business Growth Board and the Rotherham Advertiser.

Parseq’s Managing Director, Craig Naylor-Smith, said: “Parseq has engaged with apprenticeship programmes for several years across finance, IT and marketing. Zeynah is our latest finance apprentice and reminds me why we do this as a business. She’s a great example of the value apprentices can deliver.

“With the current skills gap, it’s so important that we develop our own talent from the ground up. Zeynah is a driven individual and a rising star. She deserves to be recognised through the Apprentice of the Year Award.”

Shortlisting interviews are taking place at Rotherham Town Hall on the 13 June. The awards evening will be held at the AESSEAL New York Stadium on the 20 June.
