Here, we check in with Future Leader, Charlie Gillman, to gain more of an understanding around the level 3 qualification in team leadership that our new development programme provides.
Charlie has been with Parseq since January 2017 and is currently a seconded Team Manager.
How did you find the interview process to become a Future Leader?
I was slightly nervous to start with as there was a lot of people who applied, so the competition was high. Once I was in the interview, it was surprisingly really fun and engaging, especially in the group task. It put you in a situation you didn’t expect to be in.
What subjects are you studying to gain your level 3 qualification in team leadership?
The modules I’m studying are:
- Communicating effectively
- Leading and motivating a team
- Time management
- Problem solving and decision making
- Project management for non-project managers
- Chairing meetings
- Finance for non-finance managers
I’m so glad there’s a wide variety of subjects which will definitely benefit my career moving forward.
What’s the requirements to gain your level 3 qualification in team leadership?
There’s a number of different requirements I’ll have to complete to achieve my qualification. Pre-work is one of them which is made up of study notes from my learning. I’ll also have to provide evidence of different work experiences such as signed off coaching documents. Finally, there’s an assessment at the end of the course to confirm my knowledge and understanding of the course modules overall.
What’s the most valuable thing you’ve learnt so far on the programme?
From the courses I’ve completed with the internal management development training consultant, I feel the coaching styles have been very beneficial. It’s helped me train different learners, which I love as my approach to learning is very direct. So overall, I get great satisfaction from helping and training people to the best of my ability!
